British rock legends The Who are being honoured by the UK's Royal Mint and Universal Music Group's merch company Bravado, with the release of a new collectable coin featuring symbols associated with the group, including the Mod logo and a union flag.
The coin is the fourth of The Royal Mint's Music Legends series, which recognises Britain's most iconic musicians, and The Who follow in the footsteps of Sir Elton John, David Bowie and Queen. The band's co-founder Roger Daltrey commented 'It’s an honour to have a coin produced to celebrate The Who’s musical legacy. The coin’s design captures the true essence of the band and what we represent. It was a fantastic moment being able to strike one of the very first pieces in the collection and see the range of technologies and processes involved in the making of the coin'.
